Interesting that gcc might be using an instruction that isn't supported. I'm not sure that is really the problem. More likely, I think it may just be running out of memory. I do all of my compilations in a 32-bit chroot on my server. Another easy solution is to install a 32-bit version of Debian Wheezy inside a VM on your other system. VirtualBox is a good way to do this. We've added a page in the wiki on the galileo-debian project that will walk you through this.
